Trying this again?

Tumblr making questionable decisions again, which reminded me I had this account. Not that I expect Tumblr to fall apart in the immediate future, but it's not a great sign either when they call curating your own experience "outdated". So, I'm going to try to use dreamwidth more consistently. Maybe I can finally figure out how to commit to projects - of any sort, not just writing. I haven't been writing; I've made a few attempts (particularly for Jedi June) but I'm never satisfied with any of it. Not sure if the problem is that I just need to force myself to write and get the unsatisfying stuff out of my system, or accept that I'm not going to be writing anything any time soon, or somehow carve out a different time to write (currently the only place "project" time fits is at the end of the day, but I never feel like doing anything at that point).
Currently, I'm house-hunting. It's mostly just waiting for new listings to show up (there's maybe 5 a week on average, which may or may not be in my price range) and go look at, but even that waiting I think is also eating into my brainpower to dedicate to writing and other projects.

I hear you about the only time to write being at the end of the day and never wanting to do anything at that point. I'm in more or less the same boat.
Good wishes for the house-hunt!

Date: 2023-07-13 12:47 am (UTC)Tumblr's current direction is disappointing but unsurprising. When they announced that new users would have "For You" as the default tab, it was pretty clear that they're trying to be more like other social media sites. They can say all they want that they're not getting rid of chronological feeds, but it's obvious that it's no longer an "intended" way of using the site, and once they can get away with it I think they'll make it more and more difficult to use - for incoming users this is already happening.
On a more positive note, here's to hoping we both find the energy for writing.
